Christmas Jarsby Jason F. Wright
I have heard a lot of good things about this book since it was published a few years ago and last year I gave it to a friend of mine in a Christmas gift exchange without having read it myself. She said that she and her her husband read it together and it was such a good book. So this year I bought a copy for myself and read it over Thanksgiving Break. It's a short story and I read it in just a few hours. It's about a young girl who is the recipient of a Christmas jar during a time of need and her quest as a newspaper journalist to discover who began the tradition.
I think the best thing about this book is that it gave me the Christmas spirit and I am now ready for the holiday season. This is such a fun, busy, crazy time of year and I love it! But it's easy to get swept up in the mayhem, especially on days like today (aka "Black Friday" with doorbuster deals at 4 am!!) It's nice to sit back and really ponder the true meaning of Christmas. Serving others at Christmastime is a great way to show our love and appreciation for our Savior. I love when books can inspire you to become better and serve others and this book has touched the hearts of so many people.
